ARAD FORT
Arad Fort is one of Bahrain’s most important fortified castles which overlooks various sea passages of Muharraq’s shallow seashores. It was built in the style of Islamic forts at the end of the 15th and early 16th centuries. Arad Fort was used as a defensive fortress throughout history, from the time Bahrain was occupied by the Portuguese in the 16th century to the reign of Shaikh Salman Bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa in the 19th century.

RIFFA FORT
Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh Fort, commonly known as Riffa Fort due to its location, was built by Shaikh Ahmed Al Fateh on the ruins of an old fort in 1812. The fort was later converted into a residence and then became the government’s office in 1869. Since the seventies of the last century, it has become an important historical site.

BAHRAIN FORT
Bahrain Fort or “Qal’at al-Bahrain” is built over 180,000 sq.ft. Occupation of the fort has been recorded from 2300BC to the 16th Century. This site was the capital of the Dilmun, one of the most important ancient civilizations of the region. Bahrain Fort is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site Bahrain Fort Museum is located along the northern waterfront of the Fort. With 500 artefacts showcased, the long settlement history of the site is evoked to the unique backdrop of the wall, which recreates the different archaeological layers uncovered at the site;

AL FATEH GRAND MOSQUE
Al Fateh Grand Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world, encompassing 6,500 square meters and accommodates up to 7,000 worshippers.

BEIT AL QURAN
Housed in a building spectacularly engraved with Arabic script, Beit al Quran (House of Quran) showcases a fascinating collection of Quranic manuscripts as well as a library of over 50,000 books written in Arabic, English, and French that center mostly on Islam. Manuscripts dating back to the 7th century as well as Qurans written on parchment, rice, peas, and grains are among the impressive collection. It is claimed to be the only institute in the world devoted to the Quran.

THE MILITARY MUSEUM
The Military Museum acts as a monument to Bahrain's military culture, from ancient military history to the modern-day Bahrain Defense Force. The museum is divided into five different sections – The Hall of Rulers, Forts Hall, Documents Hall, Horses Hall and the Old weapons Hall. All the museum halls display progression of Bahrain’s military.

RASHID AL ORAIFI MUSEUM
This museum is an adaptive re-use of the Al Oraifi family's private residence where artwork, inspired by the Dilmun culture and history by one of Bahrain’s most talented artists, Rashid Al Oraifi, is on display. Dedicated to the Dilmun era, this private collection of art and sculpture has more than 100 works from the fascinating period that defined Bahrain's ancient history.

DAR AL NAFT OIL MUSEUM

BU MAHER FORT
The Bu Maher Fort Visitor’s Center can be accessed via the sea by boats that depart from Bahrain’s National Museum harbor. This is the starting point to discovering more about the Pearling Path that has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The center contains a three-dimensional display that guides the viewer though the history of the path and the houses which formed it from the early beginnings to the main pearling traders. Bu Maher Fort, which was built in 1840, is steeped in seafaring and pearling history and forms the first stop in the historical pearling path having once served as the main fishing harbor and gateway to and from the sea.

BAHRAIN NATIONAL MUSEUM
A rich collection of Bahrain's ancient archaeological artifacts is on display at the Bahrain National Museum. The museum covers 6,000 years of Bahrain's history. DILMUN BURIAL MOUNDS
The Dilmun Burial Mounds is a necropolis dating back to the Dilmun era. A Danish group excavating what they considered a city of the Bronze Age came across artifacts dating back to around 4,100 - 3,700 BCE within the tumuli

The Diraz Temple, located in Diraz dates to around 3000 BC. The site was excavated by the British Archaeological Mission in cooperation with the Directorate of Archaeology in the 1970s

AIN UMM SUJOOR
The water wells at this site, located in Diraz, appear to have been built around 3000 BC during the Dilmun era. The site was excavated by Danish and Japanese expeditions in 1954 and the 1990s respectively.

BARBAR TEMPLE
The Barbar Temple complex, located at Barbar, consists of three Dilmun-era temples that were built atop one another. The first dates to around 3000 BC, while the second was added 500 years later, and the third between 2100 BC and 2000 BC. They are believed to have been constructed to worship the god Enki, the god of wisdom and freshwater.

AZZIZA BIRDS KINGDOM

THE TREE OF LIFE
This is a 400-year old mesquite tree in Bahrain considered a natural wonder. This lone tree rises from the desert and nurtured by a source of water the origin of which remains a mystery as no aquifers are known to exist at the tree’s location.

Bahrainis have had a deep routed cultural connection to camels for centuries. When visiting Bahrain, make sure to take a visit to the Royal Camel Farm. SHEIKH ISA BIN ALI HOUSE
Muharraq, the former capital of Bahrain, is known for its cultural contributions through the many restored traditional Bahraini houses that can be found amidst the narrow lanes and byways. The Sheikh Isa bin Ali House is Bahrain’s most impressive example of Gulf Islamic architecture featuring four courtyards, beautifully carved wooden doors, and perforated gypsum panels.
The Sheikh Ebrahim Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research provides an important insight into several particularly interesting aspects of Bahrain’s heritage. From embroidery at Kurar House to a splendid showcase of Bahrain’s pearling history at the Bin Matar House, the former home of a renowned pearl merchant, the various houses reflect Sheikh Ebrahim Center’s commitment towards preservation of both traditional architect and history.

AL-JASRA HOUSE
The house was built by Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa in 1907, and was the birthplace of the late Amir in July 1933. When the family moved to Riffa later in the 1930s the building fell into disrepair, but was restored in 1986 and is now open to the public.

Bahrain’s postal services history dates as far back as 1884. In 2015, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities installed a permanent exhibition in the old government building in Bab Al-Bahrain which displays postage stamps, memorabilia and historic photographs that illustrate the history of postal services in Bahrain.

Al- Khalefeyah Library is situated in the old city center Of Muharraq and it is reconstructed on the original Khalefeyah Library, which was one of the first public libraries to be built in Bahrain.
